Phytoplankton monitoring in the Trieste harbour, close to an iron foundry (FERRIERA), in the North Adriatic Sea. Sampling during 2008-2014.

Method step description:

  1. Utermöhl’s method (1958), using an inverted microscope equipped with phase contrast. Variable volumes of seawater (25 and 50 ml, depending on cell concentrations) were settled for at least 48 h.
