Description
- Abstract
- CORILA (Consortium for Coordination of Research Activities Concerning the Venice Lagoon System) is an association of Ca' Foscari University of Venice, the University Institute of Architecture of Venice, the University of Padua, the Italian CNR and OGS. It is overseen by the Italian Ministry of Teaching, University and Research. CORILA's Research Programme aims at providing concrete results, scientific excellence as well as relevance to specific queries emerging from policy makers and public administration. It is specifically geared to better understand the functioning of the lagoon's systems, natural and man-made, both ecologically and in a socio-economic context, filling the gaps in the existing knowledge. CORILA's Research Programme is based upon 4 thematic areas, Economics, Architecture and cultural heritage, Environmental processes, Organisation and dissemination of data and broken into diverse research lines. Within Area3.Environmental processes, Line 3.15. Solid tansport and circulation of the upper layers in the inlets and the coastal zone shall estimate water, dissolved and particulate substances, and organism fluxes through the sea inlets in the lagoon, in order to give a significantly more precise picture of the exchange processes with the Adriatic Sea. The experimental activity is based on two auto-recording self-contained ADCP (Malamocco and Lido) and one ADCP recording data (Chioggia) sent to Ufficio Marea of Venice Municipality via GSM. Coastal HF Radar (CODAR) measurements were carried out to estimate the surface current field. ADCP data are used to estimate the solid transport.
