Description

Abstract
The MAMBO project aims to observe and study the main marine processes of the coastal areas, in their wide spectrum of space and time scales, with long-term routine measurements. In the frame of the project MAMBO (Monitoraggio AMBientale Operativo), operative since 1998, the real-time meteo-marine system as been implemented to protect human activities, the coast and the marine environment against river floods, storm surges, oil spills, pollution, anoxyc conditions, red-tides and mucillage. The meteo-oceanographic MAMBO buoy is a component of observation network devoted to operational programs in the North-eastern Adriatic Sea. The collected data are used by meteorological center (OSMER) for weather forcasting. The EVOLINE project focuses on the study of coastal erosion acting in the northern Adriatic area (along Bilione and Lignano coast). It is founded by Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Local Government to provide meteo-oceanographic conditions to Civil Protection Center in Palmanova (Udine). The PALME project focuses on the study of study the meteo-oceanographic conditions and the circulation in the Gulf of Trieste. Current meters are positioned on the mouth of Tagliamento and Isonzo rivers, to evaluate fluxes. It is founded by Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Local Government (Civil Protection Center). The experimental activity is based on meteo-oceanographic multiparametric MAMBO buoys, Datawell Directional Waveriders (DWR) and near-shore stations with moored ADCP current meters and pressuve wave gauges.
