- PRISMA 2 is an interdisciplinary project, founded by the Italian Ministry of the University and Scientific Research and Technology to get a deeper knowledge on environmental problems affecting the Adriatic Sea. Some seasonal cruises were carried out in the Adriatic during 1996 and 1998 to study the longitudinal transport in the Adriatic Sea as well as sediment-water interactions and biogeochemical cycles. Ship mounted ADCP complemented the above observation. The synoptic shipboard measurements included CTD casts, as well as water sampling for the determination of nutrients and of dissolved and particulate elements. In particular PRISMA-2 is addressed at the determination of physical and mesoscale structure (fronts, eddies and filaments) in the basin scale dynamic.
