Description

Summary
Upper Ocean Structure and Circulation and its Response to Atmospheric Forcing; Tyrrhenian Eddy Multi-Platform Observations (TEMPO) experiment, MAST-0041-C - During the TEMPO 1 experiment (from 26 September to 7 October 1989) two Technocean ARGOS-tracked drifters were released, one within (41.70deg N, 10.80deg E) the cold patch detected by satellite images in the Central Tyrrhenian Sea and the other outside it (40.78deg N, 11.40deg E). Both the drifters were equipped to measure surface temperature as well as current velocity at a depth of 10 meters. The former buoy (TRISTAR) operated from 2 October 1989 to 15 February 1990. The latter (MINISTAR) operated from 25 September 1989 to 18 October 1989.
