Descriptions:
Time series of picoplankton abundance collected from 2000 to 2009 with a monthly frequency at 0.5, 5, 10 and 15 meters in the Gulf of Trieste– time series station (LTER - C1).
Heterotrophic cell abundance is determined after steaning with DAPI according to the method described by Porter and Feig (1980). Autotrophic cell abundance is determined according to Waterbury et al., 1979, by photosynthetic pigment autofluorescence.
