- Descriptions:
- The Edisto inlet physical data set consists of four files with the folowing data: 1) temperature and salinity values at 4 m depth, acquired underway with Thermosalinograph (TSG, sensors SBE38 and SBE21); 2) eastward and northward marine current components acquired underway by Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP, sensors Teledyne RDI OS75 kHz) and processed by CODAS; 3) six conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) casts with pressure, temperature, conductivity and dissolved oxygen (SBE911Plus and SBE43 sensors); 4) six vertical profiles of the eastward and northward current components collected by a LADCP (downward looking 300 kHzTeledyne RDI). TSG and ADCP underway data were acquired during the Programma Nazionale di Ricerche in Antartide (PNRA) XXXIII expedition in the Ross Sea on board r/v OGS-Explora with the support of PNRA GLEVORS project (P. I. Chiara Sauli) between 00:40 and 08:45 on February 17, 2017 UTC. The CTD and LADCP profiles were acquired during the PNRA XXXV expedition in the Ross Sea on board p/v Laura Bassi, with the support of PNRA MORSea project (P.I. Pierpaolo Falco) between 08:10 and 13:30 on February 6, 2020.
- In 2017, temperature and salinity values at 4 m depth were acquired underway every 5 s and averaged over 60 s. Simultanously, eastward and northward marine current components were acquired underway and averaged over 300 s with vertical resolution of 16 m (starting at 44 m depth). Where available, astronomic tidal currents and sea surface elevation for the 2017 data were calculated by the Tidal Model Driver (TMD Reference, Padman, L. and S. Erofeeva, S. (2005). Tide Model Driver (TMD) Manual. Earth & Space Research, padman@esr.org, Version 1.2: November 28, 2005). In 2020, six conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) casts were collected at the entrance into the Edisto Bay and bin-averaged over 1 dbar. At the same time, six vertical profiles of the eastward and northward current components were collected by a LADCP, mounted on the Rossette frame, with a vertical resolution of 5 m.
