OGS contributes to UNEP/MAP Quality Status Report 2017

2 June 2017

A Case Study on Long-term variability along a trophic gradient in the North Adriatic Sea was carried out by OGS, as coordinator and data provider for the EMODnet Chemistry initiative, to contribute to the Quality Status Report 2017 of UNEP/MAP. Data on nutrients and chlorophyll, fragmented in several institutions, archived with different formats and measurement units, were gathered, standardized and harmonized by EMODnet Chemistry. Data, collected since 1980, were used to assess long-term evolution of eutrophication of marine waters as required by European directives, mainly the Water Framework Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
