SeaDataNet initiative has been launched: OGS among the partners

16 December 2005

SeaDataNet is the Integrated Infrastructure Initiative of the EU Sixth Framework Programme that will be operational from 2006 to 2011. The initiative will capitalize on the results of the MEDAR/MEDATLAS and SEA-SEARCH projects. SeaDataNet is coordinated by the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea and brings together 49 partners of major scientific marine research institutes. OGS takes part in the project thanks to the key role played by the National Oceanographic Data Centre (NODC) in the European system of data management. SeaDataNet's objective is to enhance and network the professional data centres in a unique virtual data management system, that will provide openly accessible, integrated, and quality controlled data sets online.
