SeaDataNet continues on the cloud

8 January 2016

SeaDataCloud initiative is ready to blast off and will be operational from 2016 to 2020. The project of the EU Horizon 2020 programme aims at considerably advancing SeaDataNet Services and increasing their usage, adopting cloud and High Performance Computing technology for better performance. SeaDataNet connects together more than 100 data centres aiming at preserving and making reusable marine observations ranging from ocean physics to chemistry and biology. OGS has been in the partnership since the beginning of its development. After its launch in 2006 under the EU Sixth Framework Programme, the SeaDataNet infrastructure has upgraded through SeaDataNet 2 project (2011-2015) into an operationally robust and state-of-the-art Pan-European infrastructure for providing open access to up-to-date and high quality marine metadata, data and data products.
