Open-science-it: the NODC article about its quality management system

23 January 2025

The NODC recently published an article entitled How to work towards data quality management on open-science.it. In this article, the NODC describes the quality management system (QMS) that the Data Centre has implemented and explains its costs and benefits. In addition, the data centre explains why other research institutes should also consider implementing such a system to ensure the quality of their services for making data findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.

“Implementing a data quality management system can be a lengthy and complex process,” writes the NODC. “However, it allows you to map and document organisational and operational activities and assess their sustainability.” In conclusion, the Data Centre specified that one of the main benefits of the QMS is a more structured approach to work aimed at achieving specific, measurable, actionable, relevant and planned quality objectives. Today, the NODC, benefiting from the documentation and modus operandi of the QMS, is working on developing new systems for storing, distributing and presenting data and planning long-term improvement strategies.
