The new chemical data source for the European Environment Agency

31 August 2017

NODC, through EMODnet Chemistry, and ICES will be the new European data sources for some marine indicators used to compile reports on the state of the environment by the European Environment Agency (EEA). In particular, EMODNet Chemistry and ICES will provide valuable information on the concentration and distribution of contaminants in marine organisms as well as on the concentration and diffusion of chlorophyll, nutrients and oxygen in the water column, essential variables for evaluating the eutrophication status of coastal waters. The EEA indicators will be published by mid-2018 and updated every 2 years.
